My wife(Anna) and I will be celebrating 20 years of marriage on October 29th. While it is a wonderful milestone and a blessing from God, it has also been a very real struggle. We have 6 children together (3 boys and 3 girls, ages 8–18). Both of us were raised in Christian, Pentecostal homes, so we know the truth and desire to live by it. Still, our marriage has endured many challenges. I deeply desire unity, forgiveness, grace, mercy, and kindness between us. My wife struggles with submission, and I struggle to lead because of her criticism, corrections, and passive aggressiveness. The current state of our marriage feels like “survival mode.” We are planning to go to a Sandals resort for 10 days in October to celebrate this anniversary. My prayer is that this time will be a season of renewal, relaxation, refreshment, reset, and restoration. I know we both carry hurts from our pasts. Please pray that God will heal, restore, and breathe new life into our marriage and our family, with Christ at the center.
